2022 Goals

Can I just say not getting COVID? Like, can that just be the only goal? Oof, what a challenge the last couple of years have been! I suppose we’ll start in the usual way — reviewing what I set for last year, and laughing at all of the things that I didn’t accomplish!

2021 Goals

  • Finish at least 13 classes (2 down so far, this would be 3 terms worth of classes)
  • Work on game dev art at least once a week (or else I will probably never get it done! So much to do, redraw, and make pretty!)
  • Work on fun art at least once a week (Those Habitica claims are calling…)
  • Work on dice making (Dice are awesome, after all, and they’re fun to make! Hopefully I can make some pocket money here!)
  • Stick with Habitica, since it helps
  • Read daily (I do this anyway, but I have fallen off of the boat before. It makes me happy in my heart, so sticking with it is a good thing.)
  • Make more time for hobbies (I’m awful at this. I get busy and then feel like I have no time to do anything else but the things I have to do, and it’s awful. Part of it is my OCD, the not feeling like I have time for anything, and I realize that. I’m sure some of it is anxiety too).

Just what an oof! LOL. I managed to get 7 classes done, which wasn’t too bad. Not as many as what I had wanted to complete, though. The math classes I had took me a big longer than expected, and I had a few other challenges along the way, but I’m still chugging through it. I’m calling that one a win in my book.

We have not been doing any game development, so there hasn’t been any art to work on. We did manage to get a Game Jam done, though! Which you can see here. I did 90% of the art on this one, and hand drew it all. I never want to do a Game Jam again. Talk about massive stress. 3 days to make a game? Ugh.

Dice making I dabbled with, and has mostly fallen by the wayside. I did start printing some masters for other people for a while, and might get into that again, or just offering predesigned masters. Having to create masters and not just print them for people takes way too much of my time that I don’t have.

I’ve been reading pretty much every day! I’ve missed a day here and there, it happens, but I’ve been very good with it! My current streak is 54 weeks in a row, and 128 days in a row. I just took a look at my Kindle app, and I’ve only missed reading four days. Holy crap! That’s pretty good! I also set a goal to try to read 100 books this year, but I’m not going to hit it. Reading Wheel of Time at the start of the year really ate up a lot of time. I’m currently at 91. I will definitely finish the book I’m reading now, and maybe one more. 92 or 93 is pretty damn good in a year!

I’ve done okay at making more time for hobbies. I still feel like I have no time, but I think I’ve managed to at least play more video games than what I was, and do a bit more knitting and crochet and such.

2022 Goals

  • Read every day.
  • Finish my dice masters.
  • Design masters to sell.
  • Keep up with school.
  • Make more things to sell (like pins, stickers, etc).

Yep. I think that’s going to be it. Goals just make for stress, so it’s better to do things that are within your grasp, I think. I’m already reading every day, and it’s important to me, so I’d like to keep doing it. My dice masters really need to get finished. I hate polishing them with a vengeance, but I need to finish them if I ever want to pour more dice. I also need to finish my designs for print on demand masters, so I can get those listed in my store.

Keeping up with school is also important, and really the big priority.

Making things to sell.. This is a good one. I really want to build my shop into something. Right now I only have like 3 things. The ita bag would have been a wonderful thing to do and offer, but I just don’t have the funds if things go wrong some how and I missed accounting for something. Some day I’m sure I’ll probably do it, but I’m not sure when.

Designing and having things made like pins and stickers, smaller things, are much easier to do, and have come to fruition, and much more affordable on my side of the spectrum. If I had to, I could fund an entire run of those no problem, and wont have to worry about getting hit with any kind of import fees, and wont have to worry about taxes so much like I do with larger things.

Here’s to a new year. And hopefully COVID fucks off.
