Recently, I purchased some Starbound server hosting through Citadel Servers (parent company is Server Solutions, according to what billed my PayPal). We had nothing but problems with the server — it constantly crashed. All of the characters were new and had only been on that server, too, since we knew there had been issues in the past with Starbound servers and crashes with single player characters.

Two days into the service, it had crashed multiple times a day, resulting in loss of time and items, etc, which just isn’t any fun for anyone. I put in a ticket. They never responded to my ticket. After about 24 hours I sought out server hosting elsewhere, and the next day I put in to cancel my Citadel server, and requested a refund.

Come to find out, they will not refund your money! They will only give you credit, even if you no longer wish to use their service. Even if you only had their service for 5 minutes. They will not give you your money back. Talk about rediciulious!

As of this writing, I am going back and forth with their billing department, trying to get my $12 back. Because, you know, it’s the principal of the thing. I have also opened a dispute with Paypal, for services not as described/not working. Please be wary and seek hosting elsewhere.

The server we went to is Host Havoc, and so far they have been great. I mean, they actually answer their tickets, which is something! And quickly too! I put in 2 tickets, and got responses within minutes. And responses to my responses within minutes, too! Here’s hoping they continue to be great.
